Terms of Service

The terms that govern using ThunderBox — how the platform works, and your rights and responsibilities when booking and storing luggage.

Last updated: May 15, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using ThunderBox, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.

2. What is ThunderBox?

ThunderBox is a platform that connects travelers with independent local partners (cafés, shops, hotels, and similar businesses) that offer luggage storage services. ThunderBox does not own or directly operate the storage locations; it acts as an intermediary between the traveler and the partner. ThunderBox Storage is currently in the process of being legally incorporated. The final legal company name and registered address will be added once the incorporation and registration process has been completed.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity carried out through your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

4. Bookings and payments

Prices, availability, cancellation terms, and luggage drop-off and pick-up time windows are displayed at the time of booking. Payment is processed when the booking is confirmed. Prices are stated in Swiss francs (CHF), unless otherwise indicated.

5. Permitted and prohibited items

You may store luggage, backpacks, and similar personal belongings. The following may not be stored: illegal items, weapons, hazardous or flammable substances, perishable goods, cash, jewelry or items of exceptional value, or any item requiring special storage conditions. ThunderBox and the partner may refuse to store any item they consider unsuitable or that may pose a risk to people, facilities, or property.

6. Liability and Item Protection

While your luggage is being stored, the partner who received it is responsible for its safekeeping and reasonable care until you collect it. You may add optional Item Protection during checkout. This protection covers proven loss or damage to your luggage up to a maximum of CHF 500 per booking and is handled directly by ThunderBox. If you do not purchase Item Protection, liability for loss or damage to your luggage during the storage period rests with the partner who had the luggage in their custody. Liability is limited to a maximum of CHF 100 per booking. ThunderBox is not financially liable in this case and will only facilitate the handling of the claim between you and the partner. In no event does coverage apply to items prohibited under Section 5, or to indirect damages or lost profits. If ThunderBox has paid a claim covered by Item Protection, ThunderBox may recover the corresponding amounts from the partner where there is proven negligence, intentional misconduct, or a serious breach of the partner's obligations regarding the safe custody of the luggage.

7. Cancellations and refunds

You may cancel a confirmed booking at any time before dropping off your luggage. For cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled drop-off time, you will receive a full refund. For cancellations made within the final 24 hours before the scheduled drop-off time, no refund will be provided. If you do not drop off your luggage and the drop-off window expires, the booking will be marked as expired and will not be refundable.

8. Partners are independent businesses

Each partner operates their own business independently. ThunderBox verifies the partner's identity and application when they join the network but does not control or supervise their day-to-day business operations. Availability, opening hours, and capacity are determined by each partner and may change.

9. User conduct

You may not use ThunderBox for illegal activities, damage or interfere with the service, make fraudulent bookings, or harass, harm, or otherwise negatively affect partners or other users.

10. Reviews

You may leave a review after completing a booking. Reviews must reflect your actual experience and may not contain defamatory, false, or unlawful content. ThunderBox may moderate, archive, or remove reviews that violate this policy.

11. Intellectual property

The ThunderBox name, logo, design, and content are owned by ThunderBox or its licensors. You may not use them without prior authorization.

12. No warranties

ThunderBox is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that the service will be error-free, continuously available, or meet any particular expectations.

13. General limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted under Swiss law, ThunderBox's total liability to you for claims relating to the service, other than those specifically covered under Section 6, is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant booking.

14. Account suspension and closure

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we detect fraudulent activity, or if required to do so by law. You may close your account at any time through the “Settings” section.

15. Changes to the service and these terms

We may update features, prices, policies, or these terms. We will notify you of material changes. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Swiss law. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Zurich, Switzerland, unless applicable law provides otherwise. The final city and registered address of ThunderBox will be added once the company has been legally incorporated and registered.
